當我們想用英文表達「在…之中」的時候，你也許會想到 among 和 between 這兩個字，但它們的差別以及適用的場合分別是什麼呢？今天讓我們一次搞懂，並分析它們的正確用法吧！

among 和 between 都是介系詞 (prep.)，意思都是「在…之中」或「在…之間」，
它們最主要的差別在於 among 強調的是整體性；between 則強調個別性。讓我們直接看看例句 👇

我們在樹林中無法辨別正確的路。Sandy is very popular among her classmates.
珊蒂在班上受人喜愛。
👆 上面的句子中，among 都是用來強調一個群體或團體之中，像是樹林中、班級裡等等。 😎

We can’t tell the difference between an oak tree and a maple tree.
我們無法分辨橡樹和楓樹間的差別。Sandy sits between Andy and a new student.
珊蒂坐在安迪和一位新同學之間。
👆 相較之下，我們會發現 between 的例句就很明顯的區分不同的人、事、物，例如樹的品種以及不同人的名字。
⚠️ 常見問題：between 指的一定是「兩者之間」嗎？among 一定用在「三者以上」嗎？

如文章開頭提到的，among 和 between 的主要差別在於強調整體性與個別性。
第一句指的是工業園區裡面的其中一間公司，強調園區的整體性；
第二句則是三間公司的其中一間，並點出是哪三間公司，所以 between 不只用在兩者之間而已喔~

傑克的表現在人群中特別出色。⭕️ 這個句子強調傑克在人群之中的表現，所以要使用 among 才對~
3. Taipei 101 is the tallest skyscrapers in the world.
Taipei 101 is among the tallest skyscrapers in the world.
台北 101 是全世界最高的摩天大樓之一。⭕️ 這題表達了「全世界最高的大樓中」，台北 101 是其中一個，強調「全世界的大樓」的整體概念，應使用 among 喔~
4. The confrontation the three political parties finally ended.
The confrontation between the three political parties finally ended.
這三個政黨之間的對立終於結束了。⭕️ 這邊再次提醒 between 不只用在兩者之間喔！因為本句明確點出了「三個政黨」，所以要使用 between 才對。
