今天要來討論關於看病的英文，例如因為感冒需要看醫生，或是需要定期健康檢查等該如何以英文表達~ 如果到了國外需要體檢，或是身體不舒服需要看診，趕快來看這篇喔 😉
看醫生 英文及用法
去看醫生的英文是 go to see the doctor，也可以說 go to the doctor 或 see the doctor，表示要去醫生那裡看診。另外還可以說 ” I have a doctor’s appointment. ” ，appointment 是「預約、正式的約定」的意思，也就是「我和醫生預約了門診。」
My brother caught a cold and went to see the doctor yesterday.
我弟弟昨天感冒，所以去看了醫生。Nancy has an appointment with her doctor this afternoon.
Nancy 今天下午和醫生有約。
吃藥 英文及用法
吃藥的英文是 take the medicine，動詞需要用 take 這個字，不是 eat 喔。Medicine 就是藥品，另外雖然 drug 和 drugstore 分別也有藥物和藥局的意思，但是吃藥的英文不會說 ” take the drug “，因為 drug 也有毒品的意思，使用起來容易令人誤解 😕
I have to take the medicine every four hours.
我每四小時要吃一次藥。Take some medicine, get some rest, and you will be fine.
吃一些藥並且休息一下，你就會好多了。
健康檢查 英文及用法
健康檢查或身體檢查的英文是 physical check-up 或 physical examination。Physical 是「身體的、肉體的」，而 check-up 本身就有體檢的意思，因此有些人會省略 physical 並直接說 check-up。Examination 則有「檢查、審查」的意思，要加上 physical 才有身體檢查之意。
另外還有一個說法是 “ get a physical “，剛才提到 physical 是「身體的、肉體的」，所以 ” I will get a physical. ” 也可以是「我要做身體檢查」的意思，簡化了後面的 check-up 的說法。
I have scheduled a physical check-up.
我安排了健康檢查。My parents went to the hospital for regular check-ups.
我父母到醫院接受定期身體檢查。A routine physical examination ensures that you stay in good health.
例行性的身體檢查能夠幫助你維持健康。
回診 英文及用法
回診的英文是 a follow-up appointment 或是 a return appointment。剛才提到 appointment 有約定的意思，而且常用於門診預約、和醫生的預約。Follow-up 則是「後續行動、追蹤行動」的意思，因此 a follow-up appointment 指的就是回診。Return 則是「回歸、返回」的意思，因此 a return appointment 一樣意指回診。
Our receptionist will help you schedule a follow-up appointment.
我們的櫃台人員會協助您安排回診時間。The patient called the clinic to change the return appointment.

住院 / 出院 英文及用法
住院的英文是 stay in the hospital 或是 be admitted to the hospital。前者動詞為 stay，也就是停留、留下的意思，而 hospital 就是醫院，因此 stay in the hospital 就是用來表達在醫院停留一段時間，也就是住院。記得不要用 live 這個動詞，因為自己並不是真正「住在」醫院喔~ Be admitted to the hospital 則是被動用法，be admitted 是「被允許進入…」的意思，因此 be admitted to the hospital 就是被送到醫院、准許住院的意思。
補充一下住院也可以說 ” be hospitalized “，通常是比較嚴重的症狀需要住院時會用到。例如 ” He was hospitalized. ” 就是「他住院了」的意思，可能是受了嚴重的傷或是較緊急的病情與症狀需要住院時使用。更直白地說，上面提到的 ” be admitted to the hospital ” 是走進去醫院，而 ” be hospitalized ” 就有可能是躺著進去了 😥
出院的英文則是 be discharged from the hospital，discharge 的意思是「允許離開」，因此被動用法 be discharged 就是「受到准許可以離開、獲准離開」。記得要使用 from 這個介係詞，代表「從」醫院離開 🙂
He broke his leg after falling off the stairs and had to stay in the hospital for several weeks.
他跌下樓梯摔斷腿，需要住院好幾星期。She was admitted to the hospital yesterday. I hope we can visit her soon.
她昨天住院。希望我們之後能去拜訪她。The patient was discharged from the hospital after treatment.
此病患在療程結束後即獲准出院。
診所、醫院、急診室、加護病房 英文
診所的英文是 clinic，一般如果因為小感冒去看醫生，也可以說 go to the clinic；醫院的英文則是 hospital，雖然有些人感冒也會去醫院看診，不過英文對話中，通常 go to the hospital 都是比較嚴重的症狀或是受了比較嚴重的傷，如同上述提到的 be hospitalized 就是比較危急的狀況。
I usually go to the clinic around that corner when I catch a cold.
我感冒的時候通常會去轉角那間診所。My cousin works in the hospital near my house.
我親戚在我家附近的醫院工作。
急診室的英文則是 Emergency Room，emergency 是緊急事態、緊急狀況，而 room 則是房間，因此 Emergency Room 就是急診室，也可以簡稱為 ER；而加護病房的英文則是 Intensive Care Unit，簡稱 ICU，intensive 是「密集的、加強的」，care 是照護、照顧的意思，而 unit 則是單位、單元的意思，因此 Intensive Care Unit 用來指「照護重症患者的特殊單位」，中文則稱為加護病房。
She had a high grade fever and was rushed to the emergency room.
她發了高燒並且被送往急診室。We are worried that there are not enough ICU beds.
我們擔心加護病房的床數不足。
