今天要來分清楚三個長很像、卻各走各路的結構：so、so that、還有 such that。so 大家最熟，但 so that（為了）跟 such that（使得）常被搞混，尤其 such that 合起來那個用法，很多人根本沒看過。今天就一個一個帶你看清楚，最後再把容易混進來的 so… that…、such… that… 一起釐清。今天就讓我來告訴你，到底要怎麼用！😎
so、so that、such that 差在哪？
先給你一張全貌，三個各管各的，下面這張表先掃一眼：

一句話抓重點：so 講「所以」、so that 講「為了」、such that 講「使得」。主線抓住，下面一個一個看就很清楚了。
so 的用法
so 最核心、也最常用的身分，就是當連接詞「所以、因此」，把一件事的「原因」跟「結果」串在一起。
I was really tired, so I went to bed early.
我超累，所以就早點睡了。
My phone died, so I couldn’t call you back.
我手機沒電了，所以沒辦法回你電話。
另外 so 也能當「這麼、那麼」的程度副詞（so tired、so good），這個程度用法再延伸下去，就會變成最後補充會講到的 so… that… 句型。so 還有不少其他用法，這篇先聚焦在跟 so that、such that 的比較。
so that 的用法
so that 是一個固定組合，中間不夾形容詞或副詞，整組用來表達目的，意思是「為了、以便」，後面常接 can、could、will、would。
I left home early so that I could catch the first train.
我提早出門，為了能趕上第一班車。
She wrote everything down so that she wouldn’t forget.
她把每件事都記下來，以免忘記。
口語裡常把 that 省略，講成「I left home early so I could catch the first train.」意思一樣、更自然；寫正式文章時把 that 補回去就好。
such that 的用法
重頭戲來了。such that 是合在一起的固定句型，中間不夾形容詞或名詞，意思是「以⋯⋯的方式、安排成⋯⋯，使得某個結果成立」。它在描述「某個設計、安排或條件，讓某件事得以成立」時特別好用，語氣偏正式、書面，在規則、設計說明、還有數學／邏輯裡很常見。
句型是：（某個安排／狀態）+ such that + 子句（成立的結果或條件）。
Arrange the chairs such that everyone can see the screen.
把椅子排成讓每個人都看得到螢幕的樣子。
The app is designed such that even a total beginner can use it.
這個 app 的設計，使得連完全的新手都能上手。
Choose a number such that it is greater than 10.
選一個數字，使得它大於 10。
注意：such that 偏正式。日常口語要講類似意思，更常用 so that 或 in a way that，例如：Arrange the chairs so that everyone can see.
補充：so… that… 和 such… that…
最後補充兩個容易混進來、但其實是「程度高到導致某結果」的句型：so… that… 和 such… that…，意思都是「如此⋯⋯以致於」。差別只在 so 後面接形容詞／副詞，such 後面接名詞。
It was so cold that my fingers went numb.
天氣冷到我手指都凍麻了。
He is such a nice person that everyone in the office likes him.
他人好到辦公室裡每個人都喜歡他。
選 so 還是 such？看 that 前面那個核心字是形容詞還是名詞：形容詞（difficult、tired）用 so，名詞（a nice person、a mess）用 such。
He is such a nice person that everyone likes him. ⭕️
He is so a nice person that everyone likes him. ❌
他人好到大家都喜歡他。
再提醒一次：這個中間夾「形容詞 + 名詞」的 such… that…，跟前面合起來、中間不夾的 such that（使得）是兩回事，別搞混了。
so、such 其他高頻用法
順手補幾個 so、such 在日常對話裡超實用的小用法，學起來馬上用得到。
1. so much／so many 表示「這麼多」
so 後面也能接 much 或 many 強調「數量很多」：不可數名詞用 so much，可數名詞用 so many，跟一般 much／many 規則一樣。
I have so much work today that I might skip lunch.
我今天工作多到可能要跳過午餐了。
There were so many people at the night market that we could barely walk.
夜市人多到我們幾乎走不動。
2. so far 表示「到目前為止」
so far 是固定片語，意思是「到目前為止」，很常搭現在完成式，跟「程度」或「目的」都無關，看到別跟 so… that… 搞混。
So far, everything has gone smoothly with the new project.
到目前為止，新專案一切都很順利。
A: How’s your trip going?
A：你的旅行怎麼樣？
B: Great, so far!
B：到目前為止，超棒的！
口語裡 So far, so good. 也超常聽到，意思是「到目前為止都還不錯」，回答近況時丟這句又道地又省力～
