Hey guys! 我是英文庫的 Cecilia，consider 一般有「考慮」和「認為」的意思，但用法卻非常多樣化，而某些用法又經常混淆英文學習者的視聽，搞不清楚哪種用法才是對的。
今天就來學習 consider 各種不同的正確用法，以簡單的例句融會貫通吧！ 🙂
consider 的用法和例句
① consider + N.
consider 後面接名詞是最常見的用法之一，表示「考慮某項事物」。
We should consider his age.
我們應該考慮他的年齡。Please consider our proposal.
請考慮我們的提案。
② consider + Ving
當 consider 後面加動名詞時，表示「考慮做某件事」。
She was considering visiting her friends in Italy.
她在考慮造訪她在義大利的朋友。I’ve never considered quitting my job.
我從來沒有考慮辭職。
③ consider + O. + (to be) …
很多人特別容易將這個句型和第二種動名詞的句型搞混，注意這個句型中間會有一個受詞（Object），意思是「認為…是…、把…當作…、把…視為…」，to be 兩個字可以省略。
She considers him to be her Mr. Right.
她把他當作是她的真命天子。I consider the Netherlands to be one of my favorite countries.
我認為荷蘭是我最喜歡的國家之一。Mary considers herself fortunate.
瑪麗認為她自己很幸運。
④ be V. + considered + to be / to do
類似第三種用法，但變成被動式，意指「被認為是 …」。
Einstein is considered to be a genius.
愛因斯坦被視為一個天才。Anne Hathaway is considered to have beautiful eyes.
安海瑟薇被認為擁有動人的雙眼。
⑤ consider + N. + as
在 consider 的用法裡面，consider … as … 相當具爭議性，有的學者認為是正確的，有的學者認為是錯誤的，連字典對這個用法的定義也參差不齊，Cambridge 字典直接指出 consider 加上 as 是錯誤的，但 Oxford 字典和某些字典都有列出相關例句。
能確定的是，如果將它視為正確用法，中間的名詞可以是人或物，但需注意的是它不是「考慮」，而是「視 …為 …」的意思，且 as 是可以省略的。
They should consider this as a long-term plan.
=They should consider this a long-term plan.
他們應該要把這個視為一個長期的計畫。I consider him as my best friend.
= I consider him my best friend.
我把他視為我最好的朋友。
⑥ consider + wh- + to do / 子句
consider 可加上 what、who、how 等等，後面可接 to do 或子句，表示「考慮…」。
Have you considered where to go next?
你有考慮接下來要去哪裡了嗎？He is considering how to deal with the problem.
他正在考慮要如何處理這個問題。They are considering what they will do tomorrow.
他們在考慮他們明天要做什麼。
⑦ consider (that)
consider that 加上句子可表示「考慮到」，不過比起上一個用法會比較少用。
I hadn’t even considered that she might not want to go to the party.
我都還沒考慮到她可能不會想去派對。You have to consider that he just moved to a new country.
你必須考量到他才剛搬到一個新的國家。
⑧ all things considered
這是一個固定用法，表示「考慮到所有的因素；總體來說」。
All things considered, it was a great party.
總體來說，我認為這個盛會是成功的。All things considered, I’d rather be in Taiwan.
考量到所有因素，我寧願留在台灣。
⑨ considering
considering 可以有近似 regarding 的介系詞用法，後面接名詞，表示「考慮」，一般多用來描述考量某些特定的事實而作出評論或給出意見。
Considering her age, she’s quite outgoing.
考慮到她的年紀，她還滿外向的。He did quite well on his exam considering the circumstances.
考量到這些情況，他在考試上的表現很不賴。
⑩ considering (that)
considering that 是複合連接詞，that 經常被省略形成 considering，後面接的是子句，要小心不要和上面的 considering 搞混嘍！
Considering he’s just started learning English, he speaks the language quite well.
考慮到他才剛開始學英文，他的英文真的說的不錯。I was impressed that Amy found the way here, considering she’d only been here once before.
艾咪能順利來到這裡真的讓我印象深刻，考量到她之前才來過這裡一次。

① 我正在考慮回溫哥華。
I’m considering going back to Vancouver.
➡️ 正在考慮需使用現在進行式，記得「考慮某件事」沒有不定詞而只有動名詞的用法。
② 她小心翼翼地考慮著這個問題。
She considered the problem carefully.
➡️ 考慮問題很明顯是 consider 加上名詞的用法。
③ 我一直把你當成朋友。
I’ve always considered you a friend.
➡️ 答案也可以是 I’ve always considered you to be a friend.，to be 可以省略。

總體來說，有非常多英文學習者會以為動名詞和不定詞的用法可以互相替換，但其實是不行的。另一個重點就是 consider as 這個比較棘手的用法，如果想要避免爭議，將 as 省略是最安全的做法。
