哈囉，大家今天過得怎麼樣呢？我是英文庫的 Anna，今天要來跟大家聊聊「致力於做某件事情」👩💻 英文應該如何表達。如果想要用英文傳達出「全心投入做某件事情」，常常會運用到三個字：dedicate、commit 和 devote。那這三個字怎麼用？差別又在哪裡呢？快跟著 Anna 一起看看吧！🏃♀️
dedicate
首先，我們先認識 dedicate 這個字，它是動詞，表示「奉獻、獻出、投注（時間、精力等）」。可以運用的結構有幾種，可以依照上下文翻譯成「致力於……」，來一一釐清吧。
dedicate N. to N.
這是第一種用法，可以在 dedicate 後面加上名詞，表示「投注了某某東西」，最常講的就是投注時間。接著在 to 後面再加上一個名詞或動名詞，帶出「某人奉獻、付出的領域或事情」。要注意這邊的 to 是介係詞，並非不定詞用法，所以後面才會是加上名詞或動名詞喔。
She dedicated her life to the study of science.
她終身致力於科學研究。Johnny has dedicated his life to fighting injustice.
Johnny 一生都致力於打擊不公不義。They dedicated themselves to helping the poor.
他們致力於幫助窮人。
be dedicated to N.
這個單字還可以運用被動式「be dedicated to」，這可能是大家比較常看到的用法，後面可以加上一個名詞/動名詞，表達「致力於某件事情上、致力於做某件事情」。
Columbus is very hardworking and dedicated to his work.
哥倫布非常努力，而且投身於工作之中。This company is dedicated to producing eco-friendly products.
這個公司致力於生產環保產品。Thanos is dedicated to eradicating half of the lives in the universe.
薩諾斯致力於消滅宇宙中一半的生命。
commit
接下來進入第二個字囉：commit，可以表示「致力於」、「投入（金錢、時間等）」、「承諾」、「承擔義務」等等的意思。通常會運用到被動式用法來表達「致力於做某件事情」，而在介係詞 to 後面可以接上名詞或動名詞。
be committed to N.
He is a hardworking writer and totally committed to his work.
他是個勤奮的作家，非常投入在自己的工作中。The government has been committed to fighting against racism.
政府一直致力於打擊種族歧視。We’ve been committed to providing the best products.
我們一直以來都致力於提供最好的產品。
除了單純地使用 be committed to 的用法，還可以在 committed 的前面加上各類副詞表達程度喔，這些副詞都可以應用：absolutely、completely、deeply、very、totally、fiercely、 firmly、heavily、fully、highly、strongly、totally，來看看幾個例子。
Brian was a war correspondent who was strongly committed to his job.
Brian 過去是個戰地記者，他非常投入在自己的工作中。This organization is fully committed to protecting the environment.
這個組織全心投入環境保護。
devote
最後還有一個好用的單字：devote，意思是「將……奉獻、貢獻給……」，要運用這個單字表達「致力於做某事情」有幾個句型可以運用，一起來看看吧。
devote N. to N.
這個句型中，第一個名詞可以填入「投入、奉獻的東西」，例如：time（時間）、energy（精力）、life（人生）、attention（注意力）、effort（力氣、精力、努力）、resources（資源）等等，甚至還可以加上反身代名詞，如：yourself、herself 等等，表達「將你自己、她自己……投入在某事情上」喔。
而 to 後面的名詞或動名詞就是「投入心力、致力於做的事情」。我們來看看三句不同的寫法吧！
The doctors devoted all their time and energy to this medicine.
醫生投注所有的時間和精力在這款藥物上。Our boss has devoted all the resources to fixing the problem.
我們的老闆投注了所有資源致力於解決這個問題。In order to graduate from graduate school, Joe has devoted himself to writing essays.
為了要盡快從研究所畢業，Joe 全心投入、致力於寫論文。
be devoted to N.
devote 這個字也有被動用法 be devoted to，to 後面可以加上名詞（某件事情）或動名詞（某個動作），表示你很投入且致力於這件事情。
He is very devoted to his work.
他非常投入他的工作。Amy is very devoted to learning English.
Amy 非常投入於學英文。The customer service department is devoted to improving customer care.
客服部門致力於改善客戶服務。
