今天我們來看看關於課程的英文！

中文裡面關於課程往往也會有一些不同的說法，例如課程、課堂、講座等，英文當中針對課程性質的也有不同的說法~ 今天要帶大家了解 course / class / lecture / lesson 這四個和課程有關字彙，學起來絕對非常實用，讓你在不同場合使用最合適的英文單字喔 🙂

課程 英文

以下 Jenny 先整理了今天要介紹的幾個與課程相關的四個英文單字，讓大家可以先比對一下，緊接著一個個看例句了解它們個別的用法喔~

Class 用法

首先來看 class 這個字，通常我們一講到上課，就會想到 class。Class 可以說是最廣泛意指「課程」的字，它可以用來表示一堂課，例如中學生或大學生課表的其中一堂課；class 也可以表示一些非學術性的課程，例如小提琴課或跳舞課等。Class 也可以用來表示一整個班級~ 我們看看以下例句：

一堂課、一節課

We go to the same biology class.
我們上同一堂生物課。

I have class early in the morning on Wednesday.
我星期三早上有課要上。

非學術性課程

Maggie has a ballroom dance class every Friday.
Maggie 每周五有國際標準舞的課程。

Tommy’s parents will take him to his first basketball class this afternoon.
Tommy 的父母今天下午會帶他去第一堂籃球課。

班級

Kim and I are in the same class.
Kim 和我在同一個班級裡。

Jacob is rather popular in his class.
Jacob 在他班上很受歡迎。

Lesson 用法

Lesson 通常意指單元性的課程，例如台灣的英文課本或教科書當中，第一課為 lesson one，第二課為 lesson two 等，課堂上如果老師要表示今天要上哪一課，也可以使用 lesson~ 另外當我們想表達學到了一課、得到了教訓的時候，也會使用 lesson 這個字！

單元性課程

Tomorrow’s quiz will include lesson one to lesson four.
明天的小考會包含第一課至第四課。

In today’s lesson we’re going to take a look at ancient Rome history.
今天的課堂中我們要來看看古羅馬的歷史。

教訓

He admits that he has learned a lesson and will try to stop procrastinating.
他承認自己學到了教訓，並且會試著停止拖延。

I’m going to teach you a lesson if you don’t stop bothering me. 
如果你繼續干擾我，我會讓你學到教訓。

Course 用法

Course 也有課程的意思，不過它多用來表示某一門學科的一系列課程，通常課程時間長達一學期或一學年。例如主修英文系的學生一定會需要休息西洋文學概論這門課，此時西洋文學概論就是一個 course。

補充一下~ 如果想要表達這堂課有幾個學分，我們可以使用 credit 這個字，例如三學分的課程可以說 a 3-credit course 😉

She is taking five courses this semester.
她這學期要修五門課程。

If you want to get a degree in Computer Science, you’ll have to take this course.
如果你想要得到資訊工程學系的學位，就必須修習這堂課。

Lecture 用法

最後我們來看 lecture 這個字~ Lecture 當作名詞時意指講座，通常是大學課程中的講課，課堂時數不一定像 course 那樣完整且具有連續性，可以是比較單一、一次性的講課或演講。

📝 若要表明此演講或講課的主題，lecture 通常會和 on 這個介係詞搭配。

We are interested in attending a lecture on Contemporary Philosophy.
我們有興趣參加一個關於現代哲學的講座。

This lecture will be given by Professor Keith.
這堂課會由 Keith 教授授予。

另外 lecture 也可以作為動詞使用，當它作為動詞時，意思是「教授別人」、「教導他人」，有的時候也可以代表「說教」的意思 🙄

Simon has lectured on Mathematics for over a decade.
Simon 已經教授了超過十年的數學課程。
