不管是在報章雜誌、商用、政治等場合，都很容易看到 approach 這個高頻用字，主要的原因莫過於 approach 一詞多義，而且能當動詞也能當名詞，可以用的情況算是相當多，在開始介紹前我們先看看以下的例句，小試身手猜猜看 approach 的意思🕵️。

approach 當名詞時的意思和用法
approach 當名詞時，有三個最常見的意思，以下我們接著看～
1️⃣ approach 表示「方式、方法」
這時 approach 意指想事情的方式，或是處理事情的方式，你也可以把它理解為「手法」。此時，如果你想表達「…的方法」，可以使用 an approach to something，這邊搭配 to 算是固定用法，而這個 to 是介系詞，所以如果後面加動詞，要使用 V-ing 的型態。
而要表達「採用…方法」，可以用 take/adopt an approach to… 唷。一起看看例句吧😊～

長期來說這個方法不盡理想。The company is taking a new approach to management.
公司在採用新的管理方法。We use a very communicative approach to teaching languages.

2️⃣ approach 表示「靠近、接近」
這個意思也是 approach 非常常見的意思，如果你想表達「….的靠近」，搭配的用法會是 approach of something。而如果語序對調，變成「靠近…」，原則上就不一定會搭配 of，會視情況調整成其他介系詞，但當然最常見的還是 approach of something。
I’m concerned about the approach of war.
我擔心戰爭的到來。The weather turned cooler with the approach of autumn.
天氣隨著秋天的來臨而轉涼。Balding might be a sign of the approach of middle age.
禿頭可能是中年來臨的徵兆。The ship is now making its approach into the harbor.

3️⃣ approach 表示「通道、路徑」
除了以上兩個當名詞最常見的意思，approach 也能表示「通道、路徑」，如要表示「到…的通道、路徑」，可以用 an approach to 地方。
Follow me. There’s a secret approach to the lake house.
跟著我，有條秘密通道通往湖邊小屋。All the approaches to the destination are blocked.
所有通往目的地的路徑都被封鎖了。
approach 當動詞時的意思和用法
approach 當動詞時有三個普遍會用到的意思，繼續一起往下看囉！😁
1️⃣ approach 表示「靠近、接近」
這邊與 approach 當名詞有靠近、接近的意思一樣，但不同之處在於當動詞時，用法相對單純很多，不需要另外加 to 這個介系詞。當及物動詞時，後面直接加受詞，表示「靠近…」。也可當不及物動詞，表示「…在靠近」。那麼，一起看看例句吧～
A typhoon is now approaching the east coast of Taiwan.
一個颱風正在靠近台灣東岸。You should slow down as you approach the intersection.
靠近路口時，你應該減速慢行。A storm is approaching. We should prepare some food and water.

2️⃣ approach 表示「著手處理、應對」
approach 表示著手處理、應對時為及物動詞，後面直接加上受詞就可以了，基本上常見會接的受詞有 problem、situation、task 等等，所以你也可以直接記住這樣的搭配用詞來幫助記憶。
We would prefer to approach this problem from different angles.
我們偏向採用不同角度來處理這問題。Let’s approach the situation in a calm and professional manner.
讓我們用冷靜、專業的態度來處理這個情況吧。My boss just assigned me a challenging task. I’m thinking about how to approach it.
我老闆剛指派我一個有挑戰性的任務，我正在想要怎麼應對。
3️⃣ approach 表示「接洽、商量、交涉」
approach 除了有靠近的意思，也可以衍生表示接近某人以為了談事情，用法上會是 approach someone for something 或 approach someone about (doing) something。
The chief financial officer approached the bank for a loan.
那位財務長與銀行商量貸款事宜。John is afraid to approach his dad about borrowing more money.
John 害怕找他爸商量借更多錢的事。

紅酒讓他有足夠膽量走近她並介紹自己。➡️ 這邊的 approach 是動詞，表示「靠近」，後面直接加受詞就可以了。
