nor 在英文中算是比較容易寫錯的用法，因為很多人對它的用法不是很熟悉，也有一些小細節需要特別留意，但不用擔心，這篇文章會把 nor 的用法分為三個部份來介紹，相信你看完講解後就會對 nor 的用法更加熟悉囉！那話不多說，咱們就一起往下看看吧～
1. nor 用來連接兩個句子
nor 的中文意思為「也不」，作為對等連接詞，會用來接續前一句所說的否定部分，也就是說，nor 前一句會是一個否定句，再由 nor 引出相關聯的句子。
直接來看看例句你會比較清楚：
It was not her responsibility, nor mine.
這件事不是她的責任，也不是我的。She did not stay at home, nor did she go to school.
她不在家裡，也沒有去上學。Jeffery doesn’t want to go to college, nor does he want to find a job.
Jeffery 不想上大學，也不想去找工作。My grandma has never been to other countries, nor does she want to go abroad.
我奶奶從沒去過其他國家，她也不想要出國。I don’t hear the names of the Indian states, nor do I see them.
我沒有聽到印度那些邦的名字，也沒有看到。
眼尖的你應該有發現，nor 後面如果接的是句子，主詞和動詞的位置會交換，也就是倒裝，因為 nor 是帶有否定意味的連接詞，這是要特別注意的重點唷！
此外，由於 nor 是對等連接詞，也就是 FANBOYS 之一，所以前後句子各自獨立也是可以的，像是這樣：
She didn’t stay at home. Nor did she go to school.
Jeffery doesn’t want to go to college. Nor does he want to find a job.

2. nor 和 neither 連用
nor 另一個常見的用法就是會跟 neither 連用，一樣是表示「也不」，就是常聽到的 neither A nor B 的句型，表達「不是 A 也不是 B」之意，那要注意的地方為 A 和 B 要是結構對等的，看例句示範吧：
The woman spoke neither English nor French.
那個女人說的不是英文也不是法文。You can neither see nor smell this.
這東西你無法看到也無法聞到。The food tasted neither salty nor sweet.
這個食物吃起來不是鹹的也不是甜的。I can neither confirm nor deny that.
我無法確認也無法否認那件事。
其實 neither… nor… 也可以用於三者，表示「三者都沒有」，用法如下：
The woman spoke neither English nor French nor Spanish.
那個女人說的不是英文，不是法文，也不是西班牙文。The restaurant offers neither wine nor beer nor whiskey.
那間餐廳沒有供應葡萄酒、啤酒及威士忌。
那當 neither A nor B 放在主詞的位置時，動詞會依照 B 來做變化，也就是適用了就近原則：
Neither Rachel nor her colleagues are going to the party.
Rachel 和她同事都沒有要去那場派對。Neither my sister nor my brother has a master’s degree.
我妹和我弟都沒有碩士學位。
3. nor 用於附和
nor 還可以用來表示附和，也就是當某個人說了一個想法是用否定句時，可以用 nor 來附和「某人也不」。不過用 nor 附和會偏向英式的用法，美式英文會使用 neither 為主唷：
A: I have never been to Paris.
A: 我從來沒去過巴黎。B: Nor have I.（英式 🇬🇧）/ Neither have I.（美式 🇺🇸）
B: 我也沒有。
A: I don’t know the answer to that question.
A: 我不知道這個問題的答案。B: Nor do I.（英式 🇬🇧）/ Neither do I.（美式 🇺🇸）
B: 我也是。
My boss didn’t want to cooperate with the company, and nor did I.（英式 🇬🇧）
My boss didn’t want to cooperate with the company, and neither did I.（美式 🇺🇸）
我老闆不想和那間公司合作，我也是。
Sandra can’t drive a car, and nor can her boyfriend.（英式 🇬🇧）
Sandra can’t drive a car, and neither can her boyfriend.（美式 🇺🇸）
Sandra 不會開車，她男朋友也不會。
➡ 留意一下，中文通常會用「我也是」來附和，但英文須依照對方使用肯定句或否定句來決定附和句的型態唷～
補充 1：neither here nor there
片語 neither here nor there 的意思為「無關緊要」，也就是不重要也不值得去在意，可別被字面上的意思給誤解囉。這個片語還滿常在新聞上看到的，來看例句吧：
I just need your opinion. What others think is neither here nor there.
我只需要你的意見，其他人在想什麼並不重要。Who made this mistake is neither here nor there now. What matters is how to solve this problem.
誰犯下這個錯誤在現在並不重要，重要的是要如何去解決這個問題。
補充 2：什麼時候不能用 nor？
當 not 否定的對象為兩個或兩個以上的名詞、動詞、形容詞或副詞等時，會使用 or 而不是 nor 來連接，因為 not 的否定作用已經涵蓋後方的對象了，以下分別用 or 和 nor 示範給你看唷：
I don’t want to eat rice nor noodles. ❌
I don’t want to eat rice or noodles. ⭕️
I want to eat neither rice nor noodles. ⭕️
I don’t want to eat rice, nor do I want to eat noodles. ⭕️
我不想吃飯，也不想吃麵。
The cat isn’t under the table nor in the closet. ❌
The cat isn’t under the table or in the closet. ⭕️
The cat is neither under the table nor in the closet. ⭕️
那隻貓不在桌子下面，也不在衣櫃裡。
